A small plane crashed into the yard of a home in central Nova Scotia today, sending two men to hospital.

RCMP say the two-seater plane came down in the Truro area around 7 a.m., shortly after taking off from an airstrip in nearby Valley.

The cockpit remained intact and the two local men were able to walk away.

The extent of their injuries was not known, but Staff Sgt. Jay McInnis says they are not believed to be life-threatening.

Local fire departments contained some leaking fuel.

McInnis says the plane was heading to Ontario.
